The Secret Service apologized to salon owner for Kamala Harris event break in and unauthorized restroom use
As if the events of recent weeks weren't negative enough for the newly minted Democrat nominee, now the protectors of the candidate apparently have a bit to make up to a local business owner.
The Secret Service issued an apology to the owner of a Massachusetts salon who claimed that people broke into her business to use the restroom while the organization was providing security for a Veep Kamala Harris fundraiser that was taking place nearby.
Alicia Powers, a businesswoman from the Berkshires, claims that someone picked the lock on her establishment and broke into it in order to use the restroom, as the New York Post reported.
When the incident took place …
This occurred after a Secret Service officer covered a camera that was located outside of her salon with tape.
According to Powers, who cited film, the people who went on to use the restroom included a pair of individuals dressed in emergency medical uniforms, a person dressed in camouflage law enforcement gear, and a someone dressed in a dark suit and white shirt, which seemed to be comparable to the attire of a Secret Service member who guarded the door.
A representative of the Secret Service was categorical that agents would not break into premises in such a manner.
However, they did not deny that an officer covered her camera with tape, an act that was captured by security footage, and they appeared to cop some sort of mea culpa in a statement.

From the Secret Service
“The Secret Service has since communicated with the affected business owner. We hold these relationships in the highest regard and our personnel would not enter, or instruct our partners to enter, a business without the owner’s permission,” Secret Service spokesperson Melissa McKenzie said.
According to Business Insider, Powers stated that the superintendent of the Secret Service's field office in Boston called her to express his regret.
“He said to me everything that was done was done very wrong,” Powers told the outlet. “They were not supposed to tape my camera without permission. They were not supposed to enter the building without permission.”
Before The Event
The owners of Four One Three Salon in Pittsfield stated that the incident occurred on July 27, prior to Harris' first large in-person fundraiser since President Biden withdrew from the campaign, which paved the way for the vice president to become the Democratic presidential nominee.
The event that Harris hosted was place at Colonial Theatre, which is located behind the salon. A female Secret Service agent placed duct tape over a Ring security camera that was located at the salon, according to Powers.
According to the owner, her salon was closed ahead of the fundraiser because of all the security mayhem.
“They had a bunch of people in and out of here doing a couple of bomb sweeps again — totally understand what they have to do, due to the nature of the situation,” she told the outlet. “And at that point, my team felt like it was a little bit chaotic, and we just made the decision to close for Saturday.”
