Then-Vice President Joe Biden and his officials reportedly ran interference to block a potentially damning report regarding what Ukraine officials thought about his son's business dealings.

According to JustTheNews, newly declassified documents revealed that former President Barack Obama's administration intervened and essentially blocked the CIA from disseminating an intelligence report to policymakers regarding Ukraine's thoughts on Hunter Biden's business dealings.

A senior official noted that the request to block the dissemination of the document was "extremely rare and unusual."

Vice President Joe Biden's team at the time worked overtime to make sure that the report wasn't released, and it's easy to see why that is, given the drama that would unfold with Hunter Biden's business dealings years down the road.

What's going on?

The newly declassified documents made it crystal clear that the then-vice president's top people exerted their influence to stop the Central Intelligence Agency from handing off the report.

Biden's presidential briefer at the time wrote that they "strongly prefer" that the report not be spread.

“I just spoke with VP/NSA and he would strongly prefer the report not/not be disseminated,” the vice president’s Presidential Daily Brief briefer told the CIA. “Thanks for understanding.”

JustTheNews noted:

The report, reviewed by Just the News, compiled the reactions of senior Ukrainian government officials to the December 2015 visit of Vice President Biden to Kyiv.

It added:

The document shows that the Ukrainian officials in the government of then-President Petro Poroshenko, were disappointed with the vice president’s visit to their country for his lack of substantive discussions with their leader. Those same officials “privately mused” about the U.S. media’s scrutiny on Hunter Biden’s business dealings in Ukraine, the report shows.

At the time, the CIA wrote, "These officials viewed the alleged ties of the U.S. Vice President’s family to corruption in Ukraine as evidence of a double-standard within the United States Government towards matters of corruption and political power."

The report revealed that Ukrainian officials also “expressed bewilderment and disappointment" in Vice President Biden's visit, given the lack of the then-vice president seeming to care about actual issues they expected to discuss.
