The shooting that nearly ended former President Donald Trump's life unfortunately ended another's life, and injured two more.

According to The Hill, the third person who was injured by a bullet fired by the 20-year-old would-be assassin has finally been released from the hospital after being treated for his injuries.

James Copenhaver, 74, was one of two rallygoers who were shot in addition to President Trump and a third rallygoer who was killed by the gunman.

The severity of their injuries was not immediately available at the time of this writing.

What happened?

Copenhaver, the other person who was injured and the family of the person who was killed were beneficiaries of a $6 million fundraiser sponsored by Trump, to help with expenses and medical bills.

His family released a statement upon his release from the hospital, thanking doctors and medical staff for helping him recover quickly.

"Jim would like to especially thank the first responders, medics, and hospital staff who have provided him with initial and continuing care,” the family said in a statement''. "He prays for a safe and speedy recovery for them all."

"Jim’s a super nice guy, and I couldn’t believe it happened to him," Moon Township Supervisor Al Quaye told KDKA.

David Dutch, 57, was the other person who was shot at the rally, and he was recently released from the hospital after sustaining serious injuries, having been shot in the liver and chest. He was in a medically induced coma when he was admitted.

His family also released a statement upon his release from the hospital.

"David and our entire family are especially grateful to all the first responders and medical professionals who saved his life, including the Life Flight and trauma surgical teams," his family said in a statement last week. "We also offer our deepest condolences and prayers for the other victims of this tragic event and their families."

Trump's going back

Trump has vowed to revisit the same area where he was nearly killed earlier this month.

The Hill reported:

Trump last week said he intends to return to Butler for another campaign rally, though it is unclear when or where the rally will take place. The Secret Service, which has come under scrutiny in the wake of the Butler rally, has urged Trump and his team against holding outdoor rallies following the shooting.

One can only imagine that the Secret Service presence at the next one will be intense, to say the least.
