Three Young Marines Found Dead Near Gas Station

It's a story that nobody in America wants to read, and it's a story I definitely don't want to write.

Three American Marines, all young men with their entire lives ahead of them, were found dead under mysterious circumstances outside of a gas station in North Carolina.

Authorities who first arrived at the scene thought that the deaths were for sure unusual, but did say that no foul play was expected and no drugs were found in the vehicle.

"There’s nothing to believe it to be foul play or anything," Sgt. Chester Ward of the Pender County Sheriff’s Department said. "We’re waiting for an autopsy report, but we have no idea of probably what happened."

Well, they finally have their answer:

Carbon monoxide poisoning.

They were identified as Tanner Kaltenberg, 19, of Madison, Wisc.; Merax Dockery, 23, of Pottawatomie, Okla., and Ivan Garcia, 23, of Naples, Fla.

America's Marine Corps confirmed in a statement that the three were in fact deceased, as pronounced "by a competent medical authority."

"The 2nd Marine Logistics Group will continue to support NCIS and local authorities in
the conduct of their investigation," their statement read. "Our focus is providing the necessary resources and support to those impacted by their tragic loss as they navigate this extremely difficult time."

The three young men were found dead in a car parked outside of a gas station.

Police found them after one of the young men's parents placed a missing-person call to authorities after not hearing from or seeing him recently.

She called to explain that her son was supposed to have flown home to Oklahoma the night before, but that he never showed up for his flight.

This has to be the hardest thing that any parent in this country could face.

Not only are they never going to see their boys again, the circumstances around how all three of them died of carbon monoxide poisoning are surely very troubling and confusing.

How did all three pass away at once?

They weren't under the influence of drugs, so why were none of them able to escape or survive?

These are questions America is still waiting for the authorities to answer.
