Tim Scott says 'Trump did more for minorities than Joe Biden will ever do'

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), who was himself a 2024 GOP presidential candidate until two months ago, is now defending former President Donald Trump against accusations of racism and explaining why he, a Black man, supports Trump for president in 2024.

Scott was a well-respected candidate, but he just couldn't get traction in the race with all the attention from the Trump indictments and his mild manner.

Wednesday on "The Ingraham Angle," Laura Ingraham asked Scott whether he expected the pushback from MSNBC and CNN about his support for Trump, who they called “a guy right now who’s easily the most racist president in our lifetime.”

“I was not," he answered, "but here’s what I do expect — I expect the left to lose their minds because Donald Trump did more for minorities than Joe Biden will ever do."

Trump's accomplishments

"Think about the fact that Donald Trump put more money in historically black colleges and universities than any other president, any other president,” Scott added.

“How about wages and small businesses among African-Americans?” Ingraham asked.

“The bottom 20% wage growth was higher than the top 20%, the lowest unemployment rate in the history of the country came first under Donald Trump,” Scott replied. “You think about rare blood diseases like sickle cell anemia, who helped champion that cause with me? Donald Trump. Think about the greatest anti-poverty program in the history of the country, Opportunity Zones. Donald Trump.”

In 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc on the U.S. economy, Black unemployment hit a record low of 5.5%.

In April of this year, President Joe Biden bragged that he had gotten the Black unemployment rate even lower, to 5%, but one could argue that Trump's policies contributed to that over the last three years of Biden's administration.

Vague comments

The left wants to take vague comments out of context to claim that Trump is racist, but there is no basis to back up this opinion.

In fact, Trump took historic steps toward criminal justice reform that specifically benefitted Blacks, and his actions show that he treats people equally rather than paying lip service to civil rights.

In contrast, Biden gives lip service to everything and his actions show that he thinks his family should get special treatment from the justice system, no matter how corrupt they happen to be.

It's time for everyone to realize that Democrats only care whether Blacks vote for them.

They really don't care about doing what's best for everyone in the country, only about perpetuating their own power, no matter what.
