One of the top Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives has been charged with being "the ultimate hypocrite."

The charge, according to Fox News, comes from U.S. Rep. James Comer (R-KY), and Comer has leveled the charge at U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD).

The record would suggest that Comer has correctly apprehended the truth about this one.

What the record shows is that Raskin is now refusing to commit to certifying the results of the 2024 presidential election, if former President Donald Trump wins. This is despite the fact that Raskin has railed against Republicans who have taken a similar position in the past.

Just last week, Axios published an article revealing that many Democrats are refusing to commit to certifying the results of the 2024 presidential election.

Per the outlet:

House Democrats railed against House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) for hedging on whether a GOP-controlled House would certify a Kamala Harris victory. But some of their senior members are playing a similar game.

Among the House Democrats who "are playing a similar game," is Raskin.

The outlet writes:

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the House Oversight Committee ranking member and former Jan. 6 committee member who objected to Trump electors in 2017, told Axios in an interview that if Trump "won a free, fair and honest election, then we would obviously accept it." However, Raskin said he "definitely" doesn't assume that Trump would use free, fair and honest means to secure a victory.

Suffice it to say that this has struck a nerve with many.

"The ultimate hypocrite"

Comer, in response to this report, went so far as to label Raskin "the ultimate hypocrite."

On Friday, Comer said:

Ranking member Raskin is the ultimate hypocrite. He talks a big game about "saving democracy" yet actively undermines it by sowing seeds of doubt in America’s free and fair elections when it benefits him to do so.

Comer went on to say that "Raskin doesn’t care at all about democracy. He only cares about putting a Democrat in the White House whatever the cost."
