Toronto police searching for 3 male suspects after 12 left injured in pub shooting

The city of Toronto was in shock Friday night after it was reported that a manhunt was launched as a result of a mass shooting that left at least 12 people injured.

According to People, the shooting occurred on Progress Ave and Corporate Drive in the Scarborough district later at night. The spot is popular for Toronto nightlife. 

The shooting, which left at least six individuals with gunshot wounds, took place at a popular pub in the area, according to police reports

Toronto police confirmed that they are searching for three male suspects, though their identities have not yet been released

Toronto police have provided detailed updates of the situation and the resulting manhunt on its official X account.

People noted:

An initial X post shared by police stated that one suspect was “wearing a black balaclava" and he was seen “fleeing in a silver car.”

Surveillance footage captured armed police at the scene and emergency service responders putting one victim on a gurney and in the ambulance, NBC News reported.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow released a statement on the shooting via her official Facebook account.

"I am deeply troubled to hear reports of a shooting at a pub in Scarborough. I have spoken to Chief Demkiw and he has assured me all necessary resources have been deployed."

She added, "This is an early and ongoing investigation — police will provide further details. My thoughts are with the victims and their families."

Social media reacts

Users across social media reacted to the news of the shooting, which came not long after Canadian Prime Minister Justice Trudeau enacted anti-gun laws.

"YIKES the same day that the TRUDEAU government banned a whole bunch of GUNS, a MASS SHOOTING happened in Toronto. Suspects walked into a pub and started shooting. 12 injured," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Very bad stuff happening wow. Can’t believe it’s all happening in Trudeau’s peaceful gunless country."

Police are still asking for the public's help in identifying the subjects.
