President Donald Trump publicly took issue with singer Taylor Swift's decision to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris during last year's campaign.

Given that fact, some may have been shocked to see Swift's boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, welcoming Trump to this weekend's Super Bowl.

Trump praises Patrick Mahomes

According to the Daily Mail, Kelce's comments came on Wednesday after Trump praised his friend and teammate, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

"I don't want to say [who will win] but there's a certain quarterback that seems to be a pretty good winner," Trump told reporters when asked about the upcoming game.

The Daily Mail noted that Mahomes reacted positively to Trump's comments, saying, "I didn't see that clip, but obviously it's cool to hear that he's seen me play football and respects the game that I play.

"It's always cool to be able to play in front of a sitting president, someone in the top position in our country," the professional football player went on to add.

Kelce: It will be "a great honor" to have Trump present

Meanwhile, Kelce was quoted as saying it is "awesome" that Trump will be president to see the Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles.

"It's a great honor, I think no matter who the President is," Kelce acknowledged. "I'm excited because it's the biggest game of my life and having the President there, it's the best country in the world so it's pretty cool."

Brittany Mahomes is the wife of Patrick Mahomes, and she has voiced support for Trump, a fact which has not gone unnoticed by the president.

"I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Country," Trump wrote in a September Truth Social post.

Swift said Harris "fights for the rights and causes I believe" in

"With Crime and Illegal Immigration totally out of control, INFLATION Ravaging all Americans, and a World that is laughing at the stupidity of our hapless “leaders,” it is nice to see someone who loves our Country, and wants to save it from DOOM," he added.

Those remarks stand in sharp contrast to statements which the president has made about Mrs. Mahomes' friend Taylor Swift ten days later.

Trump wrote that he hated Swift after she announced her intention to vote for Harris "because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them."

" A free people [claim] their rights, as derived from the laws of nature."
