Trump accuses 'scam artist' Adam Schiff of committing mortgage fraud
California Democratic Sen. Adam Schiff spent years suggesting that President Donald Trump had committed crimes by colluding with Russia's government in 2026.
Yet in a curious turn of events, Trump has now declared that Schiff is the one who could be busted for breaking the law.
Trump accuses Schiff of mortgage fraud
According to Fox News, the president leveled that allegation in a post he put up earlier this week on his Truth Social platform, writing, "I have always suspected Shifty Adam Schiff was a scam artist."
"And now I learn that Fannie Mae’s Financial Crimes Division have concluded that Adam Schiff has engaged in a sustained pattern of possible Mortgage Fraud," Trump wrote.
"Adam Schiff said that his primary residence was in MARYLAND to get a cheaper mortgage and rip off America, when he must LIVE in CALIFORNIA because he was a Congressman from CALIFORNIA," he continued.
"I always knew Adam Schiff was a Crook. The FRAUD began with the refinance of his Maryland property on February 6, 2009, and continued through multiple transactions until the Maryland property was correctly designated as a second home on October 13, 2020," the president asserted.
"Mortgage Fraud is very serious, and CROOKED Adam Schiff (now a Senator) needs to be brought to justice," Trump went on to add.
Schiff listed homes in Maryland and California as his "principal residence"
Fox News pointed out that although Trump did not present evidence of Schiff's alleged misdeeds, it did note how Just the News reviewed the senator's finances this past October.
The website found that Schiff had declared the Maryland home to be his "principal residence" while refinancing it in 2009, 2011 and 2013.
What's more, Schiff later listed his Burbank, California condo as his principal residence in another financing document and subsequently changed the Maryland home to his second residence.
When asked about the subject on Tuesday by Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy, Trump responded by saying, "I don't know about the individual charge, if that even happened, but Adam Schiff is a serious lowlife."
Schiff mocks Trump's accusation
Since I led his first impeachment, Trump has repeatedly called for me to be arrested for treason.
So in a way, I guess this is a bit of a letdown.
And this baseless attempt at political retribution won’t stop me from holding him accountable.
