Trump administration ends $4 million worth of DEI contracts at HUD
President Donald Trump has repeatedly pledged to reduce wasteful spending, including on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs.
More evidence that Trump is keeping his promise emerged this week when one of his secretaries announced that $4 million worth of DEI contracts had been canceled.
Secretary Scott Turner calls DEI funding "inexcusable"
According to Breitbart, that revelation came in the form of a press release put out on Thursday by Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner.
"It is inexcusable the American taxpayer was footing the bill for the promotion of DEI propaganda," said of the canceled contracts.
"Not only was this costing millions of taxpayer dollars but it was also wasting valuable time that should have been used to better serve individuals and families in rural, tribal and urban communities," he continued.
Scott concluded by stating that "DEI is dead at HUD." What's more, the press release explained that the terminations came as part of a larger review of spending at HUD by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
DOGE located almost $2 billion which had been misplaced
Ending DEI funding isn't the only thing which DOGE has accomplished at HUD, as the New York Post reported last week that it had found nearly $2 billion in lost funds there.
DOGE explained in a social media post that "$1.9 billion of HUD money was just recovered after being misplaced during the Biden administration due to a broken process."

"These funds were earmarked for the administration of financial services, but were no longer needed," the department stated.
"[Secretary Turner] and [DOGE] worked together to fix the issue and de-obligated the funds which are now available for other use by the Treasury," it added.
Turner seeks to "identify and eliminate all waste, fraud and abuse"
The Post noted that Turner celebrated the discovery, saying, "We will be very detailed and deliberate about every dollar spent in serving tribal, rural and urban communities across America."
"With President Trump’s leadership, business as usual – the status quo – is no longer the posture that we will take," Turner insisted.
"And with the help of DOGE, we will identify and eliminate all waste, fraud and abuse," the secretary went on to declare.
