Trump advises Harris on CA governor race

In what he likely considered to be an outstretching of humorous generosity, President Donald Trump offered his former presidential opponate, Kamala Harris, some advice for future political campaigns.

The rumor mills have been alight with conjecture about what Harris might do now that she's without a presidential term and without a seat in the Senate, as The New York Post reported.

Trump reached across the aisle, saying that if she should run for another office, she needed to do something different than when she was running against him.

The advice

"One thing she's gotta do, she's gotta start doing interviews," Trump said during a recent interview with OutKick's Clay Travis aboard Air Force One.

"You can't get away with both of them, during COVID he did no interviews, and he got away with it because of COVID," Trump added, referencing former President Joe Biden.

Harris is intensely contemplating a bid for governor at the time of the remarks. It is thought likely that she will come to a decision by the end of the sumemr.

The current gov

There will likely be plenty of Democratic candidates looking to take over the governor's mansion in the reliably progressive state of California in 2026, thanks to term limits imposed by Governor Gavin Newsom.

With her background at the federal and state levels, the former vice president would be a "great" addition to the team, according to a former Harris adviser who spoke with CBS News.

"On a national level, what Newsom has been able to do with that job, there is a lot of upside with what she can do as the governor of the fifth-largest economy with her name ID, when our party is looking for national leadership and California looking for good governance – especially at a time when California is going through a lot," the former advisor said.

However, Harris is also being questioned about how she ran her campaign for president, with claims that she avoided interviews all the time.

The former race

Following Biden's withdrawal from the campaign and swift endorsement of Harris, the vice president abstained from giving interviews for 39 days. On August 29, she finally appeared in an interview alongside her running companion, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

Harris ramped up her appearances with national and local outlets in response to mounting claims that she was avoiding interviews, only to be further accused of the same conduct.

Worst of all, there were rumors of a failed interview with prominent podcaster Joe Rogan; Rogan had implied that Harris's campaign had placed restrictions on the questions the host could ask the candidate.

It is well-known that Trump did, in fact, come on Joe Rogan's podcast, which prompted the podcaster to endorse Trump's presidential campaign.
