Questions over whether Trump may pick Carlson as running mate
The UFC appearance came less than a week after Trump said he would be open to have Carlson as his running mate next year.
"I like Tucker a lot," The Hill quoted Trump as telling podcast hosts Clay Travis and Buck Sexton when asked about putting Carlson on the Republican ticket.
"I think I’d say I would, because he’s got great common sense," he continued. "You know, when they say that you guys are conservative, or I’m conservative — it’s not that we’re conservative, we have common sense."
"We want to have safe borders. We want to have a wall, because walls work," the former president went on to declare.
Charlie Kirk says Carlson is uniquely "battle-tested"
Meanwhile, Newsweek reported that the prospect of Carlson serving as vice president was welcomed by some on the right, including conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
"No other VP contender is as battle-tested as Tucker. Like Trump, he thrives under attack and under pressure," Kirk wrote.
