Trump announces that 'all remaining' Biden-appointed U.S. attorneys will be fired
Throughout last year's campaign, President Donald Trump promised that he would remove left-wing activists from the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Trump clearly hasn't forgotten that pledge, as he revealed this week that "all remaining" U.S. attorneys who had been appointed by his predecessors will be removed.
Trump says DOJ "has been politicized like never before"
According to Breitbart, the president's announcement came on Tuesday via a post he made to his Truth Social platform.
"Over the past four years, the Department of Justice has been politicized like never before. Therefore, I have instructed the termination of ALL remaining ‘Biden Era’ U.S. Attorneys," Trump stated.
"We must 'clean house' IMMEDIATELY, and restore confidence. America’s Golden Age must have a fair Justice System — THAT BEGINS TODAY!" the president went on to add.
Breitbart pointed out that Trump's post came less than a month after he fired over a dozen U.S. attorneys who worked with former Special Counsel Jack Smith.
Twenty Biden-appointed immigration attorneys sent walking
What's more, Breitbart reported on Monday that Trump also removed 20 Biden-appointed DOJ attorneys who were serving as judges in immigration courts.
As the DOJ's website explains, "Immigration Judges are appointed by the Attorney General of the United States to preside over immigration hearings. Loosely speaking, Immigration Judges decide whether a noncitizen may remain in the United States or must leave the country."
"Immigration court hearings involve complex immigration law issues and a wide range of relief from removability, and Immigration Judges decide cases involving asylum protection, detention and bond, adjustment to lawful permanent immigration status, and the loss of lawful immigration status," it adds.
Breitbart observed that immigration judges are executive employees rather than members of the judicial branch established in Article II of the Constitution.
Former immigration attorney claims that her "firing was political"
The terminated lawyers included Kerry Doyle, who once ordered that some 300,000 active removal cases be shut down. Doyle later complained about being dismissed in a LinkedIn post, stating, "This firing was political. I can't say I was surprised this happened. I was expecting it."
Yet former immigration judge and current Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) contributor Andrew Arthur welcomed the Trump administration's effort to reduce ideological influence on the immigration system.
"Nothing explains the huge discrepancy between judges in the same court who have wildly different asylum grant rates," Arthur told Breitbart.
"We need to identify where the fraud is, and root it out … because, it is a slap in the face of the American people to allow people to fraudulently take advantage of our humanitarian instincts," he stressed.
