Trump appoints Fox News host Mark Levin to the Homeland Security Advisory Council
In addition to having a nationally syndicated radio show, conservative commentator Mark Levin is also the host of Fox News' "Life, Liberty & Levin."
However, the television personality got yet another job this past week when President Donald Trump appointed him to the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC).
Trump says HSAC "will help us secure our border" by "developing new policies"
According to the New York Post, Trump revealed Levin's appointment in Truth Social post which included him in a group "of Top Experts in their field, who are highly respected by their peers."
In addition to Levin, Trump also named South Carolina Republican Gov. Henry McMaster, Florida Republican state Sen. Joe Gruters, and former NYPD Detective Bo Dietl to the HSAC as well.
The president explained that the HSAC will function "under Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem’s leadership."
He also pledged that the body "will work hard on developing new Policies and Strategies that will help us secure our Border, deport Illegal Criminal Thugs, stop the flow of Fentanyl and other illegal drugs that are killing our Citizens, and MAKE AMERICA SAFE AGAIN."
Levin previously held multiple roles in the Reagan administration
Levin reacted by expressing gratitude to Trump for his decision in a post on X, writing, "What an honor! Thank you, Mr. President!"

Levin's biography on Fox News' website explains that in addition to his career in television and radio, the broadcaster has a long history of government service.
This includes having served "as an adviser to several members of President Ronald Reagan's cabinet," including former U.S. Attorney General Edwin Meese.
What's more, he also functioned as associate director of Presidential Personnel, deputy solicitor of the U.S. Department of Interior, and deputy assistant secretary of the U.S. Department of Education.
Alejandro Mayorkas fired all but three HSAC members in 2021
According to its webpage, the HSAC "leverages the experience, expertise, and national and global connections" of its members "to provide the Secretary real-time, real-world and independent advice to support decision-making across the spectrum of homeland security operations."
Meanwhile, Breitbart recalled how in 2021, then Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas fired all but three members of the HSAC.
UPI described the removed individuals as being allies of former Homeland Security Deputy Secretary Ken Cuccinelli along with former acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Thomas Homan.
