Kimberly Guilfoyle and Tom Barrack were appointed ambassadors to Greece and Turkey, respectively, by President-elect Donald Trump, who made a flurry of announcements on Tuesday night via his Truth Social account.

An established relationship exists between Donald Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle, who was a Fox News anchor and a former fundraiser for Trump, as The New York Post reported.

"For many years, Kimberly has been a close friend and ally, " In announcing her position, Trump wrote. "Her extensive experience and leadership in law, media, and politics along with her sharp intellect make her supremely qualified to represent the United States, and safeguard its interests abroad."

The post also stated, "Kimberly is perfectly suited to foster strong bilateral relations with Greece, advancing our interests on issues ranging from defense cooperation to trade and economic innovation."

Barrack's Appointment

Longtime Trump friend and first inaugural committee chair Tom Barrack was famously cleared of federal charges of unlawful foreign lobbying on behalf of the UAE.

In 2021, while Trump was in office and campaigning, Barrack was indicted. The federal government prosecuted him on charges of being an unregistered foreign agent who attempted to "leverage his access" to Trump through his UAE ties from 2016 to 2018.

On all counts, including obstruction, conspiracy, and false statements to the FBI, a jury in November 2022 found him not guilty.

"Great news for our Country, Freedom, and Democracy in that businessman Tom Barrack, who should have never been charged or tried, was just acquitted of all charges," Trump said, praising Barrack's acquittal at the time.

Not Just a 'Yes Man'

Barrack criticized Trump in trial testimony. He criticized Trump's Middle East knowledge on the witness stand, saying his political support for Trump was "disastrous" for him professionally.

"This amazingly good businessman became the president of the United States who could not spell the Middle East," Barrack said.

On the subject of his criticism of Trump during the acquittal, Barrack stated to ABC News, "I'm just done with politics."

Speaking Tuesday on Barrack's appointment as ambassador to Turkey, Trump praised him as "a well respected and experienced voice of reason."

More Appointments

The incoming president also made appointments to the Federal Trade Commission. Mark Meador was appointed commissioner, while Andrew Ferguson was named chairman.

"Andrew has a proven record of standing up to Big Tech censorship, and protecting Freedom of Speech in our Great Country. Sworn in as a Commissioner on April 2, 2024, he will be able to fight on behalf of the American People on Day One of my Administration," Trump wrote in his announcement.

The post continued, "Andrew will be the most America First, and pro-innovation FTC Chair in our Country’s History."
