Judges have issued nationwide injunctions to block a Trump executive order denying citizenship to the children of illegal aliens who were born in the United States.

While it is unclear if the Supreme Court will strike down those injunctions, failure to do so will likely be regarded by Trump as a grievous mistake.

Trump weighs in on case

As The Hill reported, evidence for that assertion could be seen in a pair of Truth Social posts from the president on Thursday, made during a tour of the Middle East.

"The Radical Left SleazeBags, which has no cards remaining in its illegal bag of tricks, is, in a very coordinated manner, PLAYING THE REF with regard to the United States Supreme Court," Trump wrote."

Trump continued, "They lost the Election in a landslide, and with it, have totally lost their confidence and reason. They are stone cold CRAZY! I hope the Supreme Court doesn’t fall for the games they play."

The president added, "The people are with us in bigger numbers than ever before. They want to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!"

President issues strong claim

The president later reiterated that message in another social media post concerning America's highest judicial body the following day.

"THE SUPREME COURT IS BEING PLAYED BY THE RADICAL LEFT LOSERS, WHO HAVE NO SUPPORT, THE PUBLIC HATES THEM, AND THEIR ONLY HOPE IS THE INTIMIDATION OF THE COURT, ITSELF," Trump alleged before declaring, "WE CAN’T LET THAT HAPPEN TO OUR COUNTRY!"

The Hill pointed out that the Supreme Court heard oral arguments on Thursday regarding whether district courts have the authority to impose nationwide injunctions on the federal government, doing so in the context of a dispute over Trump's birthright citizenship order.'

Debate unfolds at high court

That question appears to have sharply divided justices along ideological lines, with liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor at one point remarking that Trump's order "violates four Supreme Court precedents."

Fellow liberal Justice Elena Kagan spoke up as well, saying, "This case is very different from a lot of our nationwide injunction cases, in which many of us have expressed frustration at the way district courts are doing their business."

Meanwhile, Justice Brett Kavanaugh suggested that a traditional class action lawsuit would "provide a mechanism for what’s needed here" rather than nationwide injunctions.

For his part, Justice Clarence Thomas observed that America "survived until the 1960s without universal injunctions" and expressed skepticism over their necessity now.
