President Donald Trump got rid of yet another Biden-era rule that gave foreign workers more rights than American ones, and who can blame him?

On June 20, Trump's Department of Labor announced that former President Joe Biden's 2024 farmworker rule would no longer be enforced because it was "burdensome" and conflicted with the enforcement of Trump's immigration laws. 

The rule allowed H-2A visa workers--those employed on a temporary basis on farms--to have collective bargaining rights even though American farm workers did not have any similar rights

In fact, American farm workers are specifically excluded from collective bargaining.

"America last"

The rule was already under two federal injunctions after Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach and 17 total states sued the federal government over it, so it was not being implemented anyway.

“Once again, Joe Biden is putting America last,” Kobach said when the suit was filed.

Trump has been working hard to get rid of and reverse the many harmful executive orders Biden put in place while he was in office, and this is yet another example of what Biden and the Democrats were trying to do to the country.

H-2A workers are only allowed to be hired when American workers are not available, and they are required to be paid the same wages as American workers would be for the same job. The average wage for these positions is currently $17.55 per hour.

In addition, foreign workers who can't reasonably make it home each day get free housing under the program.

If the employer also provides food, there is a very limited amount that can be deducted for doing so.

Obviously unfair

Obviously, these are not highly paid positions.

They do seem more than reasonable for manual, unskilled labor even without union representation, however.

It's obviously unfair to give union rights to non-citizens while denying the same rights to citizens.

Why there was ever a question about the legality of this is a mystery no one will ever figure out now that Biden's mind is gone to dementia and advanced cancer.
