Trump backs Bondi in feud with Bongino over Epstein files

President Donald Trump has just released a statement strongly supporting U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi.

The statement comes amid the fallout from Bondi's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files, the Daily Caller reports.

There are reports that Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Deputy Director Dan Bongino has threatened to resign over Bondi's mishandling of the situation. Bongino reportedly told the Trump administration that it is either him or Bondi, but someone's got to go.

Trump steps in

As you can see above, the president released a lengthy statement on the subject.

He begins, "What’s going on with my 'boys' and, in some cases, “gals?” They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! We’re on one Team, MAGA, and I don’t like what’s happening."

Trump, later on in the statement, said to "LET PAM BONDI DO HER JOB — SHE’S GREAT!"

He adds, "The 2020 Election was Rigged and Stolen, and they tried to do the same thing in 2024 — That’s what she is looking into as AG, and much more."

This would seem to suggest that Trump stands firmly behind Bondi, which leaves open the question as to whether Bongino is going to stand behind his alleged ultimatum.

"Nobody cares"??

The bulk of Trump's message argued against the importance of the Epstein situation.

The president, for example, wrote:

For years, it’s Epstein, over and over again. Why are we giving publicity to Files written by Obama, Crooked Hillary, Comey, Brennan, and the Losers and Criminals of the Biden Administration, who conned the World with the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, 51 “Intelligence” Agents, “THE LAPTOP FROM HELL,” and more? They created the Epstein Files, just like they created the FAKE Hillary Clinton/Christopher Steele Dossier that they used on me, and now my so-called “friends” are playing right into their hands.

Later on, he adds, "One year ago our Country was DEAD, now it’s the 'HOTTEST' Country anywhere in the World. Let’s keep it that way, and not waste Time and Energy on Jeffrey Epstein, somebody that nobody cares about."

The problem, of course, is that Americans - and especially his base - do care about the Epstein situation, very much, which can be gauged from reactions to Trump's message.

It remains to be seen how this all plays out, but even Trump's strongest allies are suggesting that this could hurt his administration if he does not get to the bottom of the Epstein situation.
