Trump bans the Associated Press from the White House
President Donald Trump has just banned the Associated Press from the White House.
Trump, according to the Daily Mail, made the move on Friday.
As we will see, Trump is not happy with the fact that the Associated Press refuses to refer to the Gulf of America as the Gulf of America.
This comes after Trump renamed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. He even started a "Gulf of America Day."
Here's what's going on:
Fox News explains how we got to the point that Trump has now banned Associated Press reporters from the White House.
Per the outlet:
President Donald Trump, on his first day in office, directed the Department of the Interior to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America. Companies such as Google have gone along with the change, but The Associated Press has said its guidance "will refer to it by its original name while acknowledging the new name Trump has chosen." The decision has irked White House officials, who have blocked AP reporters from events in the Oval Office and the White House’s Diplomatic Reception Room in recent days while the situation played out.
The situation has not played out well for the Associated Press.
It has continued to refuse to refer to the Gulf of America as the Gulf of America, and now the Trump White House has decided that more drastic measures are necessary.
This is why the White House is now moving forward with an "indefinite ban" of Associated Press reporters from the White House.
The details
White House deputy chief of staff Taylor Budowich explained the Trump administration's position in a social media post. He wrote:
The Associated Press continues to ignore the lawful geographic name change of the Gulf of America. This decision is not just divisive, but it also exposes the Associated Press' commitment to misinformation. While their right to irresponsible and dishonest reporting is protected…

It remains to be seen how this situation will play out.
Breitbart News reports that some in the mainstream media are considering "boycotting" White House press events in order to show their solidarity with the Associated Press.
But, whether any of these outlets are actually going to follow through with the "boycott" remains to be seen. And, it is unlikely that such a "boycott" would have its intended effect. It might actually backfire.
