President Donald Trump has brushed off the formation of a third major political party by tech billionaire Elon Musk, calling the political ambitions “ridiculous.”

The President had some harsh words for his former agency head when he metaphorically rained on the Tesla CEO’s parade by saying that parties like his “never worked," as Fox News reported.

The president made his comments when speaking to reporters in Bedminster, New Jersy, before boarding Air Force 1 on July 6.

"I think it’s ridiculous to start a third party," Trump said from the tarmac. "We have a tremendous success with the Republican Party. The Democrats have lost their way, but it’s always been a two-party system, and I think starting a third party just adds to [the] confusion."

“It really seems to have been developed for two parties," the president continued. "Third parties have never worked. So, he can have fun with it, but I think it’s ridiculous."

Musk’s announcement

Musk announced on July 5 that he has officially formed what he hopes to be a major political party to rival both Republicans and Democrats.

According to his announcement, the party will be called the “America Party,” and was formed after putting out a poll questioning social media users if.

“By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it,” Musk said on a post to X, formerly Twitter, which he now owns.

“When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy,” Musk wrote. “Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”

A bad breakup

The announcement came after a very public falling out with the president, and a virtual spat where the pair traded barbs online.

Trump spoke about the possibility of the party formation on Truth Social before the July 4 poll went up on Musk’s social accounts, saying he was “saddened” to see Musk go “completely off the rails.”

"The one thing Third Parties are good for is the creation of Complete and Total DISRUPTION & CHAOS, and we have enough of that with the Radical Left Democrats, who have lost their confidence and their minds!”

As of this writing, the page for the party. which went live shortly after the announcement, already has 300,000 followers.

Musk’s Outrage

Musk became frustrated with Trump in recent weeks due to the contents of the GOP-backed spending package.

The massive bill pulled the credits to consumers for electric vehicles, something thought likely to cause damage to Musk’s electric vehicle company.

“The way we’re going to crack the uniparty system is by using a variant of how Epaminondas shattered the myth of Spartan invincibility at Leuctra: Extremely concentrated force at a precise location on the battlefield,” Musk wrote on Saturday.
