This week saw Republican candidates in two Florida special congressional elections triumph over their Democratic opponents.

Those results left President Donald Trump beaming, with the president hailing the sweep as a win for the country.

Trump touts election results as a defeat over "the Democrats forces of evil"

According to the Daily Wire, Trump adopted a celebratory tone in a post to Truth Social on Tuesday evening, writing, "BOTH FLORIDA HOUSE SEATS HAVE BEEN WON, BIG, BY THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE."

He added, "THE TRUMP ENDORSEMENT, AS ALWAYS, PROVED FAR GREATER THAN THE DEMOCRATS FORCES OF EVIL. CONGRATULATIONS TO AMERICA!!!"

One of the victors was former Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, who defeated Democratic candidate and school teacher Gay Valimont.

Fox News noted that Patronis was seeking to replace former Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz in Florida's 1st Congressional District.

Gaetz resigned his seat after being nominated by Trump to serve as attorney general but his nomination was subsequently withdrawn in favor of former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Democrat outspent GOP opponent's campaign by a ratio of five to one

The other win of the night was pulled off by Florida Republican state Sen. Randy Fine in his state's 6th Congressional District.

As Fox News explained, Fine entered the race after former Republican Rep. Mike Waltz left Capitol Hill in order to serve as Trump's national security advisor. He defeated Democrat Gay Valimont, whose campaign outspent Patronis' by a ratio of five to one.

Like Patronis, Fine had been given an endorsement by Trump, and he was quick to express gratitude in a social media post, writing, "Because of you, Mr. President. I won't let you down."

Trump expressed concern over size of GOP's "slim margin" in the House

The election of Fine and Patronis will help with propping up House Speaker Mike Johnson's precarious majority, a topic which the president has voiced concern over.

An example of that came late last week when Trump pulled New York Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik's nomination for United Nations ambassador.

"I said, ‘Elise, would you do me a favor? We cannot take a chance. We have a slim margin,'" Fox News quoted the president as telling reporters this past Friday. "We don't want to take any chances. We don't want to experiment," Trump went on to add.
