Ever since former Democratic candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dropped out of the race and endorsed the Republican nominee, former President Donald Trump, there have been rumors and speculation that Kennedy would be rewarded with a high-level post in Trump's second administration, if he wins re-election.

On Friday, during an appearance on "Fox & Friends," Trump seemed to confirm that Kennedy would indeed have a spot in his prospective administration, though he declined to specify what he might be tasked to do, according to Newsweek.

Notably, while Trump teased that he had a whole host of individuals in mind for various Cabinet and other high-level positions, Kennedy is the only one he actually named and confirmed would be involved.

"He’s going to be a part of it"

The New York Post reported that former President Trump was asked during the "Fox & Friends" interview on Friday about possible appointees to his second administration if he wins, and when asked specifically about Kennedy, he replied affirmatively, "He’s going to be a part of it."

"He had a big impact because he’s very much into women’s health and health, and he’s very much into the environment, which a lot of people like," he continued and added, "People really like him. He looked good last night."

Praise for Kennedy at the Al Smith Dinner

That last line about how Kennedy "looked good last night" was a reference to the Al Smith Memorial Dinner, during which Trump had singled out Kennedy among others on the dias for praise during his humorous remarks at the annual Catholic charity event.

"He's gonna make a healthier place," Trump said of Kennedy. "We're gonna let him go wild for a little while. Then I'm gonna have to maybe reign him back because he's got some pretty wild ideas, but most of them are really good."

"He's a good man, and he believes in the environment, and he wants healthy people," the former president added. "He wants healthy food, and he's gonna do it. He's gonna have a big chance to do it because we do need that."

Kennedy in charge of the USDA?

The Post noted that while former President Trump didn't specify what sort of job he might assign to Kennedy in a potential second administration, Kennedy himself appears to be angling for some sort of role with control over the U.S. Department of Agriculture, per a video he posted to X earlier in the week.

Standing outside the USDA building in Washington D.C., Kennedy lamented how that agency's policies have been detrimental to the health and well-being of Americans and their farms, food, soil, and water, among other things, and discussed his goal to "give farmers an off-ramp from the current system that destroys their health, wrecks the soil, makes Americans sick, and destroys family farms."

"When Donald Trump gets me inside the building I'm standing outside of right now, it won't be this way anymore," he said. "American agriculture will come roaring back, and so will American health."

Heading up the USDA may not be feasible for Kennedy, according to the Post, given how controversial he has become among most Democrats and the unlikelihood that he would receive Senate confirmation for a Cabinet position, but the outlet noted that Trump could create a special position for Kennedy that doesn't require such confirmation, as other presidents have done in the past.
