Trump criticizes Fox News host Howard Kurtz, calls on him to resign
Tensions have apparently begun to grow over the last several weeks between Fox News and the Trump administration.
An example of that came this past weekend when President Donald Trump said that Fox News host Howard Kurtz should "retire."
Trump complains that Kurtz weakly "defended" him
According to the Daily Mail, Trump's comment came after Kurtz had conservative podcast host Ben Domenech and Democratic strategist Leslie Marshall on his program "Media Buzz."
The trio discussed Trump's decision to have Secretary of State Marco Rubio take over the role of national security advisor from Mike Waltz, who has himself been nominated to serve as U.N. ambassador.
Although Kurtz came to Trump's defense, he also played clips from other networks, a move which seems to have irked the president.
"It is time for Howie Kurtz to retire," Trump was quoted as writing in a Truth Social post. "Every Woke Anchor in the Business, people that no one watched from CNN, MSDNC and others are plastered all over his show with all really negative and fake statements and then I am weakly 'defended' by Howie and his group (although Ben Domenech has been strong!"
Kurtz: "I've known President Trump for 35 years"
Trump's criticism of Kurtz was echoed by some of his supporters, with one X user accusing the Fox News personality of "hating" the president.
However, Kurtz was quick to push back on that allegation in a social media post of his own, writing, "Lotta trolls out today."
Lotta trolls out today. I've known President Trump for 35 years, and if I hated him he wouldn't keep giving me interviews. Some people not interested in fairness https://t.co/GNbMsXOJc1

"I've known President Trump for 35 years, and if I hated him he wouldn't keep giving me interviews," Kurtz pointed out before adding, "Some people [are] not interested in fairness."
Trump calls Rove "a total loser"
The Daily Mail noted that this was not the only time that Trump expressed animosity towards Rove and Fox News, as he did once again after watching "Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy."
The episode saw Rove tell Gowdy that the president should pay more attention to rising gas prices and the impact that tariffs will have on consumers.
"He's got to be focused on those two things, I think, that people wanted, which was a strong and prosperous economy and inflation being wiped up," Rove stated.
Trump responded with another Truth Social post, saying, "I don't need Karl Rove of Fox News to tell me what to do. The guy's a total Loser who's been wrong about almost everything."
