Barron Trump, the youngest son of former President Donald Trump, seems to have become a subject of increasing media scrutiny now that he is 18 and a freshman in college at New York University.

During a recent interview, the former president downplayed speculation that his young son was dating and had a girlfriend, according to the Miami Herald.

That seemingly conflicts with the recent assertion of a former elementary school classmate of Barron's who insists that they were boyfriend and girlfriend while in the fifth grade.

Former President Trump appeared this week on the "PBD Podcast" with host Patrick Bet-David for a lengthy and wide-ranging conversation that turned at one point to his son Barron and his current attendance at NYU.

The Herald noted that Bet-David asked about Barron, "Is he good with the ladies in school at NYU? Is he there yet?"

"He’s very smart. He’s a good student, and all that. He goes to a great school and does really well. And he’s a very nice guy. You see that," Trump replied, according to the Daily Beast, but added, "I’m not sure he’s -- I don’t think he’s had a girlfriend yet. I don’t think so."

However, former President Trump may have been mistaken about his youngest son's romantic life, at least if one of Barron's former classmates named Maddy is to be believed, per the Daily Mail.

In an older TikTok video, Maddy shared old class photos that included her and Barron from their time at the Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in New York's Upper West Side.

"For those asking, I went to school with Barron Trump, and he was my first bf. When Trump was elected he brought the entire class to the White House. We gotta save my bae!" she said to begin the video.

At another point, a caption imposed over the class photo declared, "Sorry gals, he's mine," and included the kiss-blowing and diamond ring emojis.

The Daily Mail confirmed that, as Maddy claimed, Barron took his entire class from Columbia to the White House in 2017, where they met the president and received a tour of the nation's capital before returning to New York City the next day.

If Maddy's claim of a relationship with Barron is true, it turned out to be rather short-lived, as she says they eventually broke up because of the large distance between them, given that she remained in New York with her family while Barron attended private schools in the Washington D.C. area during his father's presidency and then moved down to Florida after Trump left office in 2021.

Yet, there doesn't appear to be any hard feelings over the alleged lost love, as Maddy informed her followers that Barron was "the best" and "the nicest" boyfriend she'd ever had.
