Trump DOJ accuses man of plotting to assassinate AG Pam Bondi
Last month saw Attorney General Pam Bondi speak out on the danger of political violence, including threats directed towards ICE agents.
However, Bondi has herself since come under threat, with the Trump Department of Justice (DOJ) accusing a man of plotting her assassination.
Minnesota man said to have offered $45,000 for the killing of Bondi
According to the Daily Caller, Tyler Maxon Avalos has been charged under 18 USC 875 with one count of interstate transmission of a threat to injure the person of another.
The charge stems from a TikTok post Avalos allegedly made in which he offered $45,000 to anyone who murdered the attorney general.
Details concerning the post were laid out in an affidavit that the DOJ submitted to the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota.
"The threatening post has a photograph of United States Attorney General (‘AG’) Pam Bondi, with a sniper-scope red dot on AG Bond’s forehead," it stated alongside a screenshot of the image.
Accused has a strong of criminal convictions dating back nine years
"The caption reads, 'WANTED: Pam Bondi' /'REWARD: 45,000'/'DEAD OR ALIVE' /'(PREFERABLY DEAD),'" the affidavit continued.
"Additionally, the suspect user posted a comment below the depiction that reads '*cough cough*'/'when they don’t serve us then what?'" it added.
The affidavit also noted how Avalos has a substantial criminal history, with the first incident occurring in April of 2016 when he was indicted on felony domestic assault by strangulation in Dakota County, Minnesota.
While Avalos was only convicted of a misdemeanor domestic assault after his charge was reduced, he would be found guilty four months later in Polk County, Florida of third-degree felony domestic battery.
Avalos once again got into trouble in Dakota County when he was convicted of felony stalking for repeatedly contacting and harassing an individual.
DOJ asserts that Avalos has anarchist ties, displayed "Wacko" username
Newsweek pointed out that Avalos was granted a conditional release by U.S. Magistrate Judge Douglas Micko, who imposed as series of restrictions on him.
They included a requirement that he remain in Minnesota, submit to a curfew, abide by internet restrictions, as well as not consume alcohol or possess weapons.
