Trump endorses North Carolina GOP chair to head RNC
Fox News reported last week that Ronna McDaniel is going to step down as chairwoman of the Republican National Committee (RNC).
According to CBS News, former President Donald Trump announced who he would like to see as her replacement.
Trump endorses North Carolina GOP chairman
The network cited a statement in which Trump named North Carolina Republican Party Chairman Michael Whatley as his preferred candidate for RNC head.

Trump also threw his support behind daughter-in-law Lara Trump for the position of co-chair as well as campaign advisor Chris LaCivita for RNC chief operating officer.
"This group of three is highly talented, battle-tested, and smart," the former president was quoted as saying. "They have my complete and total endorsement to lead the Republican National Committee."
Lara Trump promises that "very single penny" will go to reelecting Trump
CBS News explained that Whatley and Lara Trump will stand for election after McDaniel formally resigns, which is expected to happen shortly after the South Carolina Republican primary vote on February 24.
Fox News reported that Lara Trump addressed her candidacy in an interview with Newsmax on Tuesday, saying, "The RNC needs to be the leanest, most lethal political fighting machine we’ve ever seen in American history."
"That is the goal over the next nine-and-a-half months. If I am elected to this position, I can assure you, there will not be any more $70,000 – or whatever exorbitant amount of money it was – spent on flowers," Mrs. Trump declared.
"Every single penny will go to the number one and the only job of the RNC – that is electing Donald J. Trump as president of the United States and saving this country," she pledged.
Haley campaign manager promises that "everyone at the RNC will be fired"
However, ABC News noted Trump's endorsement of Whatley and his daughter-in-law was dismissed by Betsy Ankeny, who serves as campaign manager to former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley.
Ankeny called Whatley and Mrs. Trump's candidacy as "rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic," adding, "Nikki Haley's plan for the RNC? Blow it all up."
"Everyone at the RNC will be fired, there will be a full and complete audit of the gross misuse of funds, and there will be a formal application process to become RNC chair based on MERIT, not on back scratching," Ankeny stated.
"The days of overpaid consultants getting rich off of the RNC while losing elections will be over, and Republicans will finally get back to WINNING," she stated.
