Trump ends Biden's climate change appliance standards

President Donald Trump and his administration is moving away from the restrictions that the Biden administration placed on American appliances.

The Daily Caller reports that Trump made the call last week.

Since then, the Department of Energy has taken action to delay the implementation of Biden's standards.

The effort is being spearheaded by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Secretary Lee Zeldin.

"I am hereby instructing..."

Trump gave Zeldin the order last Tuesday.

He wrote:

I am hereby instructing Secretary Lee Zeldin to immediately go back to my Environmental Orders, which were terminated by Crooked Joe Biden, on Water Standards and Flow pertaining to SINKS, SHOWERS, TOILETS, WASHING MACHINES, DISHWASHERS, etc., and to likewise go back to the common sense standards on LIGHTBULBS, that were put in place by the Trump Administration, but terminated by Crooked Joe. I look forward to signing these Orders. THANK YOU!!!

You may remember some of the actions that former President Joe Biden took in the name of climate change, including actions directed towards gas stoves and washing machines and much more.

As the Daily Caller reports:

Former President Joe Biden introduced various green energy regulations as part of his signature climate agenda, including tightening energy efficiency regulations on a range of household appliances including dishwashers, gas stoves, light bulbs, and water heaters.

These are the actions that the Trump administration is now looking to reverse.

The latest

Since Trump gave the order, the EPA, under Zeldin's leadership, has announced that it has postponed the implementation of Biden's rules.

In a statement, the agency said:

A top priority for President Trump is lowering costs for American families. Today’s announcement will foster consumer choice and lower prices — it is a win for all Americans. The people, not the government, should be choosing the home appliances and products they want at prices they can afford.

Breitbart News provides the specifics of the announcement.

Per the outlet:

In an announcement, the Department of Energy stated that efficiency standards for household appliances such as central air conditions, washers and dryers, walk-in coolers and freezers, general service lamps, gas instantaneous water heaters, commercial refrigeration equipment, and air compressors would be postponed.

It is unclear when it will be postponed to. Clearly, the Trump administration wants to get rid of it altogether, but, with the bureaucrats in Washington, D.C., such moves are never that straightforward. This will be something to keep an eye on in the coming months.
