Trump explodes at Judge Merchan after sentencing order

President-Elect Donald Trump exploded at New York Judge Juan Merchan over the weekend.

Trump did so, according to the New York Postafter Merchan released his latest decision in the so-called hush-money case.

This is the one in which Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) accused Trump of committing a crime by improperly reporting the alleged 'hush-money' payment that Trump made to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

Merchan, it appears, will not be sending Trump to prison. Trump, however, is still fuming about the situation.

Here's what is going on:

On Friday, Merchan released a decision indicating that he will not be sentencing Trump to prison. In fact, it does not appear that Trump will be getting any penalty.

The Associated Press reported:

In an extraordinary turn, a judge Friday set President-elect Donald Trump’s sentencing in his hush money criminal case for Jan. 10 — little over a week before he’s due to return to the White House — but indicated he wouldn’t be jailed.

Not only that, but Merchan said that Trump will not be fined or will not get probation either.

The outlet continues:

Manhattan Judge Juan M. Merchan, who presided over Trump’s trial, signaled in a written decision that he’d sentence the former and future president to what’s known as an unconditional discharge, in which a conviction stands but the case is closed without jail time, a fine or probation.

Nonetheless, Trump is still extremely upset about the situation - as, perhaps, he should be.

"Corrupt"

Trump released a long statement over the weekend slamming Merchan for even allowing the case to get as far as it did.

He wrote:

I never falsified business records. It is a fake, made up charge by a corrupt judge who is just doing the work of the Biden/Harris Injustice Department, an attack on their political opponent. A legal expense was called, on the books, a legal expense. There was nothing else it could have been called. This was the so-called falsifying of records. I was hiding nothing, everything was out in the open for all to see.

Legal experts on both sides of the political aisle generally agree with this statement.

Trump went on to argue that Merchan ought to be "disbarred," writing, "the judge should be disbarred."

The chances of this happening, though, in New York is extremely unlikely. Such decision are made by the state's top court and by the state's bar association, and neither have even slapped Merchan on the wrist for what he has done.
