President Donald Trump filed a $10 billion lawsuit against CBS late last year over its allegedly deceptive editing of an interview former Vice President Kamala Harris had with "60 Minutes."

The Hill recently noted that while some critics believe the case is soon to be over, Trump says he will be vindicated.

Trump says his lawsuit is "a true winner"

According to the website, he expressed words of confidence in a post on Truth Social account Wednesday, calling his lawsuit "a true winner."

He went on to accuse CBS and its parent company Paramount of "perpetrating a Giant FRAUD against the American People, the Federal Elections Commission, and the Federal Communications System."

Trump's remarks came in the wake of a report published by The New York Times which asserted that the president's attorneys and Paramount’s legal team are set to begin next week.

The Hill noted how Paramount majority shareholder Shari Redstone has voiced an interest in settling the case prior to the completion of a merger between her company and Skydance.

Lawsuit leads "60 Minutes" executive producer to resign

Trump's lawsuit and Redstone's push for a settlement apparently led to the resignation of longtime "60 Minutes" executive producer Bill Owens.

The Times obtained a memo Owens sent to staff members late last month in which he complained of not being allowed to run the show as I have always run it, to make independent decisions based on what was right for '60 Minutes,' right for the audience."

What's more, the Times reported in February that sources at "60 Minutes" quoted Owens as telling staff members "[t]here have been reports in the media about a settlement and/or apology."

The executive producer is said to have followed up by saying that "[t]he company knows I will not apologize for anything we have done."

Jake Tapper accuses Redstone of bending "the knee to Trump"

Meanwhile, Mediaite observed that CNN host Jake Tapper accused Redstone of letting her own financial interests influence how CBS News is run.

"Now, Shari Redstone is the majority owner of Paramount, and she stands to make a fortune if this multibillion-dollar deal, this merger, goes through," Tapper said on April 22.

"And it seems as if Shari Redstone is likely to bend the knee to Trump and settle this allegedly frivolous lawsuit," the CNN personality remarked.

"And that is the context of Shari Redstone’s likely bending of the knee," Tapper stated before sarcastically adding, "Hope the money’s worth it, Shari."
