Trump forces out two high-ranking officials within days of one another
During last year's campaign, President Donald Trump pledged to "aggressively" root out left-wing ideologues from the Washington bureaucracy.
Trump's recent decision to force out a pair of federal officials suggests that he isn't playing games when it comes to fulfilling his promise.
President fires Library of Congress head
According to the Associated Press, Trump moved last week to fire Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden, who was appointed by then President Barack Obama in 2016.
The news service reported that Hayden received an email this past Thursday which read, "On behalf of President Donald J. Trump, I am writing to inform you that your position as the Librarian of Congress is terminated effective immediately. Thank you for your service."
The Associated Press noted that Hayden has received condemnation from conservatives who accused her of promoting far-left literary material.
Hayden's critics included American Accountability Foundation (AAF), a non-profit group which purports to “expose and neutralize" those who are "undermining American democracy and threatening the freedoms of the American people."
Hayden accused of being "woke" and "anti-Trump"
In a social media post put up just hours before Hayden was fired, AAF accused her of being a "woke, anti-Trump" promoting of transgender ideology.
Hey @POTUS, we have another job for @SecRubio!
The current #LibrarianOfCongress Carla Hayden is woke, anti-Trump, and promotes trans-ing kids.
It’s time to get her OUT and hire a new guy for the job! 🇺🇸 https://t.co/Eeojrl7mm4

Yet Hayden was not the only high-level Washington figure to be dismissed last week, as Trump also removed U.S. Copyright Office Director Shira Perlmutter.
The Associated Press noted that Perlmutter, who was relieved of her duties on Sunday, previously served as a policy director at the Patent and Trademark Office.
New York Democrat slams Perlmutter's firing
Perlmutter's dismissal was met with swift condemnation from Democrats, including New York Rep. Joe Morelle, who sits on the House Administration Committee.
"Donald Trump's termination of Register of Copyrights, Shira Perlmutter, is a brazen, unprecedented power grab with no legal basis," Morelle wrote in a social media post.
The congressman went on to hail Perlmutter as "a patriot" who "propelled the Copyright Office into the 21st century by comprehensively modernizing its operations and setting global standards on the intersection of AI and intellectual property."
Morelle went on to add, "This action once again tramples on Congress’s Article One authority and throws a trillion-dollar industry into chaos. When will my Republican colleagues decide enough is enough?"
