This week saw New York Judge Juan Merchan impose a gag order against former President Donald Trump in his New York criminal case.

Yet that didn't stop Trump from lashing out against Merchan and denouncing his order as unconstitutional.

Trump notes that judge's daughter is a Democratic consultant

According to Breitbart, the former president took to Truth Social on Wednesday and accused Merchan of "suffering from an acute case of Trump Derangement Syndrome."

He also took note of the fact that Merchan's daughter is the chief operating officer and president of Authentic Campaigns, a Democrat-aligned political consulting firm.

The company's clients have included President Joe Biden, Michigan Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Arizona Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs, and Oregon Democratic Gov. Tina Kotek.

Former acting attorney general calls order "anti-American"

What's more, Trump complained that she "has just posted a picture of me behind bars," something he called "her obvious goal."

In a follow-up post, the former president suggested that Merchan has a conflict of interest, writing, "Maybe the Judge is such a hater because his daughter makes money by working to 'Get Trump,' and when he rules against me over and over again, he is making her company, and her, richer and richer."

"The Judge has to recuse himself immediately, and right the wrong committed by not doing so last year," Trump declared in his third post.

"If the Biased and Conflicted Judge is allowed to stay on this Sham 'Case,' it will be another sad example of our Country becoming a Banana Republic, not the America we used to know and love," he insisted.

Trump is not the only one taking issue with the gag order in his case, with former Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker condemning it as "anti-American" during an interview with Fox News host Harris Faulkner.

Campaign spokesman says rights of voters are being violated

He later told the network, "I think these gag orders are very dangerous… The First Amendment is fairly broad in its protection of our right to speak and speak our minds, and I think ultimately this judge is going to have to tread very carefully."

Meanwhile, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung insisted that Merchan's order "prevents President Trump—the leading candidate for President of the United States—from engaging in core political speech, which is entitled to the highest level of protection under the First Amendment."

"Worst of all, the gag order violates the civil rights of over 100 million Americans who follow President Trump and have a First Amendment right to receive and listen to his speech," Cheung added.

" A free people [claim] their rights, as derived from the laws of nature."
