Trump is 'very satisfied' with FBI's investigation of his assassination attempt

It has been just over a year since a gunman wounded President Donald Trump and killed one of his supporters during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

While some wondered if the president's attempted assassination was part of a larger conspiracy, Trump recently said that the FBI found nothing "abnormal" in its investigation.

Trump questioned during White House event

According to the Daily Caller, Trump's comments came on Tuesday as he spoke with reporters during a White House meeting with Philippines President Bongbong Marcos.

He was at one point questioned by Real America's Voice White House correspondent Brian Glenn, who noted that Americans have greater details concerning the extramarital affair of Astronomer CEO Andy Byron than the man who opened fire in Butler.

"What an interesting world that we know more about two people at a Coldplay concert just hours after that viral video than we know of Thomas Crooks one year after the assassination attempt. What is holding back the investigation on Thomas Crooks?" he asked.

"They have reported to me and told me things. They really say they haven’t found anything abnormal," the president said in response.

Six Secret Service agents have been suspended

"I will say this, the Secret Service was very brave because they were right there and they jumped on me," Trump continued before acknowledging that "they made mistakes."

"They should’ve had someone on that roof. They should have had communication with the local police. They made some mistakes," he noted.

The New York Post reported earlier this month that six Secret Service agents have been suspended over their handling of the assassination attempt.

One of them was Myosoty Perez, who served as a member of Trump's security detail and could be seen in multiple photographs taken at the rally.

Trump says FBI "was crooked as hell" in years past but now has "the best people"

Trump went on to stress that the FBI under his administration is now "a whole different group" with "the best people in the world."

"If it was the old FBI, I wouldn’t have believed a thing they said. The old FBI under Comey was crooked as hell," the president declared.

Trump previously articulated a similar message on July 3 when he spoke with Daily Caller correspondent Reagan Reese, stating that he was "very satisfied" with the FBI's work.
