Trump leads Biden with Hispanics: poll

Donald Trump has erased Joe Biden's lead with Hispanic voters, a new poll found, the latest sign of trouble for Biden's re-election bid.

According to USAToday and Suffolk University, 39% of Latino voters back Trump - meaning, Trump has a five-point advantage with the traditionally left-leaning demographic.

This represents a seven-point gain for Trump since 2020, when Biden got 65% of the Hispanic vote and Trump received 32%. Biden's margin has decreased to 34%.

The poll is a stunning repudiation of the mass media hysteria about Trump's campaign rhetoric on immigration, especially his comments about "poisoning the blood" of America.

Trump surges with Hispanics?

It's part of an overall bleak picture for the Biden campaign, which heads into the election year dogged by growing doubts about Biden's prospects.

Of course, it pays to be skeptical of massive pendulum shifts - but even a moderate swing could have an impact in swing states, like Nevada, with high Latino populations.

Biden's support has also softened among black voters and young voters who are angry over his handling of the war in Israel.

Among black voters, Biden has slipped to 63% from 87% in 2020, while Trump leads with young voters with 37%, versus 33% for Biden, the USAToday poll found.

Biden's base splinters

There are some caveats: much of the support Biden has lost has gone to third-party candidates, rather than Trump, whose support among black voters remains stuck at 12%. Of course, for Trump, it may be a distinction without a difference.

"Although Trump hasn't grown support among Black voters, he has closed the deficit because third-party voters come off of Biden's support among Blacks," said David Paleologos, director of Suffolk's Political Research Center.

"A young voter or a person of color voting 'third party' is a vote away from President Biden, and a vote away from President Biden is a vote for Donald Trump."

America down on Bidenomics

Hispanic voters may be warming to Trump because of the immense financial strain of Biden's economy, which has slammed the working and middle class despite Biden's attempts to sell "Bidenomics" as a success.

Recent polling shows Biden trailing Trump by a few points nationally, with larger gaps in the swing states.

In addition to multiple criminal indictments, Trump is also facing an unprecedented effort to have him disqualified from the ballot.

Trump says the unprecedented lawfare effort is motivated by desperation and fear that Biden will lose a fair fight.
