Trump makes former modeling agent who discovered wife special envoy for Global Partnerships
President Donald Trump announced this week that he is appointing former modeling agent Paolo Zampolli to a role in his administration.
The move is likely to thrill First Lady Melania Trump as Zampolli has been credited with having discovered her as a model.
Zampolli to serve as special envoy for Global Partnerships
According to the Daily Mail, that revelation came on in the form of a Truth Social post which the president put up on Tuesday evening.
"I am pleased to announce that I am appointing Paolo Zampolli as Special Envoy for Global Partnerships," Trump was quoted as writing.
"With his extensive experience working with the United Nations, the Kennedy Center, and various International initiatives, Paolo will help us advance America's Interests on the Global stage. Congratulations Paolo!" the president went on to add.
Former modeling agent helped secure Mrs. Trump's visa
The Daily Mail noted how this is not the first time Zampolli has served in the White House, as he was previously a member of the President's Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition during Trump's first term.
What's more, Zampolli was also appointed by Trump to serve on the Board of Trustees to the Kennedy Center five years ago.
The Daily Mail recalled how Zampolli helped secure an H-1B visa for the future first lady three decades ago, something he spoke with the newspaper about.
"I know she was not working a paid job before she got the H-1B," Zampolli explained. "We used whatever she did before to get her a visa,' he said. 'She had enough tear sheets to qualify."
Zampolli noted that he was a partner at the modeling agency Metropolitan Models, which used Mrs. Trump's prior work in Paris and Milan when filing her application.
Zampolli first introduced Mr. and Mrs. Trump at a New York night club
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services' website states that H1-B visas are available to those "in a specialty occupation, services of exceptional merit and ability relating to a Department of Defense (DOD) cooperative research and development project, or services as a fashion model of distinguished merit or ability."
Beyond his business relationship with the Trumps, Zampolli is also a close personal friend of the president and first lady, having introduced them to one another at New York's Kit Kat Club in 1998.
What's more, he organized a post-inauguration party in 2016 to celebrate the fact that Mrs. Trump had become America's new First Lady.
