Trump pledges that 'occupied' LA 'will be set free' from rioters
The past week has seen Los Angeles descend into chaos as riots have exploded over raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids.
Yet in a move sure to leave California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom reeling, President Donald Trump has ordered the authorities to crack down.
Trump pledges that "Los Angeles will be set free"
According to Breitbart, Trump made his position known in a Truth Social post on Sunday, writing, "A once great American City, Los Angeles, has been invaded and occupied by Illegal Aliens and Criminals."
"Now violent, insurrectionist mobs are swarming and attacking our Federal Agents to try and stop our deportation operations — But these lawless riots only strengthen our resolve," he pledged.
Trump explained that he is "directing Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and Attorney General Pam Bondi, in coordination with all other relevant Departments and Agencies, to take all such action necessary to liberate Los Angeles from the Migrant Invasion, and put an end to these Migrant riots."
The president went on to declare that [o]rder will be restored, the Illegals will be expelled, and Los Angeles will be set free."
Trump endorses threat to arrest Newsom
What's more, Fox News reported that Trump told its White House correspondent Peter Doocy on Monday that he endorses White House Border Czar Tom Homans threat to arrest Gov. Newsom for allegedly impeding federal immigration enforcement efforts.
"He's daring Tom Homan to come and arrest him. Should he do it?" Doocy said in reference to remarks that Newsom made to MSNBC.
"I would do it if I were Tom," the president said. "I think it's great. Gavin likes the publicity. But I do think it would be a great thing.
"He's done a terrible job. I like Gavin Newsom. He's a nice guy, but he's grossly incompetent. Everybody knows," Trump went on to assert.
California sues over National Guard deployment
Meanwhile, Fox News also reported that California Attorney General Rob Bonta is filing a lawsuit over Trump's decision to deploy National Guard troops.

"President Trump’s order calling federalized National Guard troops into Los Angeles – over the objections of the governor and local law enforcement – is unnecessary and counterproductive," Bonita said in a statement.
"The president is trying to manufacture chaos and crisis on the ground for his own political ends," the attorney general claimed.
