Trump points to double standard shown by New York Times columnist on Ukraine

In an article published over the weekend, New York Times contributor Peter Baker alleged that President Donald Trump "plays into Putin's hands."

Yet Breitbart noted how Trump was quick to strike back with a social media post which exposed Baker's double standard when it comes to Ukraine.

Trump accuses Baker of being "very biased and untalented"

"No matter what deal I make with respect to Russia/Ukraine, no matter how good it is, even if it’s the greatest deal ever made, The Failing New York Times will speak BADLY of it," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

"Liddle Peter Baker, the very biased and untalented writer for The Times, followed his Editor’s demands and wrote that Ukraine should get back territory, including, I suppose, Crimea, and other ridiculous requests, in order to stop the killing that is worse than anything since World War II," he continued.

Trump was referring to Baker's criticism of his peace proposal, which includes American recognition of Russian sovereignty over Crimea.

The plan also provides for de facto acceptance of Russia's occupation of Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia but the U.S. while still formally considering the areas to be Ukrainian territory.

Obama administration was reluctant to provide lethal aid

"Why doesn’t this lightweight reporter say that it was Obama who made it possible for Russia to steal Crimea from Ukraine without even a shot being fired?" Trump demanded.

"It was also Liddle Peter who wrote an absolutely fawning, yet terribly written Biography, on Obama," the president noted. "It was a JOKE! Did Baker ever criticize the Obama Crimea Giveaway?"

"NO, not once, only TRUMP, and I’ve had nothing to do with this stupid war, other than early on, when I gave Ukraine Javelins, and Obama gave them sheets," Trump went on to add.

While Russia faced condemnation from the United States and other countries when it moved to annex the Crimean Peninsula in 2014.

However, Obama initially did little to retaliate and was criticized by some within his own party for refusing to equip Ukraine with lethal assistance.

Trump's patience with Zelenskyy "is running very thin"

Baker isn't the only person that the president has taken aim at in recent days, as the White House has also had tough words for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy over his failure to Trump's plan.

The New York Post cited remarks made this past Wednesday by White House press secretary Leavitt, who told reporters that the president's "patience is running very thin."

"He wants to see peace," Leavitt said of Trump. "He wants to see the killing stop but you need both sides of the war willing to do that, and unfortunately President Zelensky seems to be moving in the wrong direction."
