Trump puts pressure on Supreme Court as tariff decision looms
President Donald Trump is putting some pressure on the justices of the U.S. Supreme Court, as they get ready to make a consequential decision regarding Trump's tariff policy.
The president did so, according to Newsmax, with a message that he posted to Truth Social over the weekend.

"Tariffs have made our County rich..."
Trump, in his message, made the case for tariffs.
He wrote:
Tariffs have made our Country Rich, Strong, Powerful, and Safe. They have been successfully used by other Countries against us for Decades, but when it comes to Tariffs, and because of what I have set in place, WE HAVE ALL THE CARDS, and with a smart President, we always will! Wars have been stopped, and stronger relationships with other countries have been built, even though they are not allowed to rip off the United States anymore. The Stock Market and 401k’s have hit an all time high, Inflation, Prices and Taxes are DOWN. Education is being brought back to the States (where it belongs!), and our Military, and Southern Border, is the strongest they have ever been. The USA is respected again, respected like never before.
Trump finished by referencing the case before the Supreme Court.
He added:
All of this was brought about by Strong Leadership and TARIFFS, without which we would be a poor and pathetic laughingstock again. Evil, American hating Forces are fighting us at the United States Supreme Court. Pray to God that our Nine Justices will show great wisdom, and do the right thing for America!
There is no question that Trump thinks tariffs are good for the country. What the justices have to decide, however, is a different question, namely, whether the president has unilateral authority to pursue such a policy.
Background
The Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the tariff case earlier this month.
The Hill reports:
The Supreme Court heard arguments earlier this month on a case related to Trump’s use of emergency powers to justify the sweeping tariffs on foreign trading partners. The president’s dependence on the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) received a somewhat frosty reception from the conservative-leaning court.
Still, there is no real indication as to how the justices are going to rule.
The Hill goes on to note that the "Trump administration has signaled that it has a backup plan should the high court rules against Trump."
In fact, the Trump administration has said that it has several backup plans. But hopefully, they won't be needed.
