Some of the primary players in the Trump-Russia probe may soon have to face consequences for their actions, especially former FBI Director James Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan.

According to Fox News, President Donald Trump commented on the situation facing the two men as an investigation is likely to be opened regarding their involvement in the Trump-Russia hoax.

The president held nothing back in describing the two men, calling them "crooked as hell," adding that he believes it appears they could soon face major legal challenges.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe kickstarted the investigation as sources reported that he sent evidence of wrongdoing by Brennan to current FBI Director Kash Patel.

What did Trump say?

The president was asked about the evolving situation by reporters this week, and in his usual fashion, he held nothing back in describing what he thinks about Comey and Brennan.

"Well, I know nothing about it other than what I read today," Trump said. "But I will tell you, I think they're very dishonest people. I think they're crooked as hell. And, maybe they have to pay a price for that."

"I believe they are truly bad people and dishonest people," Trump added. "So whatever happens, happens."

Fox News reported:

The sources said that Ratcliffe's referral was received and told Fox News Digital that a criminal investigation into Brennan was opened and is underway. DOJ sources declined to provide further details. It is unclear, at this point, if the investigation spans beyond his alleged false statements to Congress.

As far as Comey is concerned, other sources told Fox News Digital that a DOJ investigation against him is underway, though details of what's going on were not provided.

Social media erupted after it was announced that the two former officials are now under DOJ investigation.
