President Donald Trump just revealed that he recently had a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan.

Fox News reports that Trump revealed as much, over the weekend, while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One.

The obvious question here is why doctors believe that Trump needed an MRI scan.

The latest

According to Politico, Trump revealed that he had an MRI scan as part of his recent visit to the Walter Reed Medical Center.

Per the outlet:

President Donald Trump said on Monday he had undergone an MRI scan during his recent visit to Walter Reed Medical Center, but did not offer further details on why. “It was perfect,” he told reporters aboard Air Force One on his way to Tokyo, part of a week-long trip to Asia.

Trump is specifically quoted as saying, "I did. I got an MRI. It was perfect, yep. I gave you the full results. We had an MRI."

When reporters attempted to get more details on the situation, such as what the doctors may have been looking for, Trump simply replied, "You can ask the doctors."

At the time of this writing, neither Trump nor his doctors has provided any further details on the matter.

Background

Trump, just recently, underwent what the White House referred to as a "routine yearly checkup." Some left-leaning outlets questioned the routine nature of this.

CBS News, for example, wrote:

President Trump visited Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Friday morning for what the White House said was his "routine yearly checkup," just six months after undergoing his annual physical examination at the same facility.

After the exam, the White House released the doctor's findings.

The write-up, in part, read:

President Trump remains in excellent health, exhibiting robust cardiac pulmonary, neuroogical, and general physical function. His active lifestyle continues to contribute significantly to his well-being . . . President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.

Unlike the situation with Trump's predecessor, there is no obvious reason to question these findings by Trump's medical team.
