Many conservatives were shocked earlier this year when a public feud erupted between President Donald Trump and former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk.

While the situation has led to much speculation, the president recently came clean about the current state of their relationship.

Trump calls Musk "a smart guy" who is "going to do well"

According to the Daily Mail, Trump addressed the matter this past weekend during an appearance on Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures.

"I haven't spoken to him much, but I think Elon is a wonderful guy," the president said of Musk to host Maria Maria Bartiromo, adding, "He's a smart guy."

"I know he's going to do well always. He actually campaigned with me... in the end, he got upset and that just wasn't appropriate," Trump continued.

This is not the first time that Trump has spoken positively of Musk since their split, as earlier this month he recalled having "a great relationship" with the Tesla CEO.

Tech billionaire slams Senate version of spending bill

For his part, Musk has sent mixed signals, including over the weekend when he slammed the Senate version of Trump's spending bill.

"The latest Senate draft bill will destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country!" Musk complained in a post on his X social media platform.

"Utterly insane and destructive. It gives handouts to industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future," the tech billionaire went on to allege.

Musk backed Trump's handling of anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles

However, Fox News reported that Musk has also signaled support for the president over his handling of anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles.

This included sharing a post from Trump which read, "Governor Gavin Newscum and 'Mayor' Bass should apologize to the people of Los Angeles for the absolutely horrible job that they’ve done, and this now includes the ongoing L.A. riots."

What's more, the president asserted that individuals who were participating in the unrest "are not protesters, they are troublemakers and insurrectionists."

Musk also reposted comments from Vice President J.D. Vance, who declared that Trump is not prepared to "tolerate rioting and violence."
