Trump says GOP is 'never going back' to supporting 'endless wars'

Breitbart reported that former President Donald Trump gave a speech this weekend in which he declared that the GOP has said goodbye to supporting needless foreign conflicts.

Trump made that pledge on Saturday while addressing attendees at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

Trump pledges to support veterans and avoid "stupid wars"

"We are never going back to a party that wants to give unlimited money to fight foreign wars – that are endless wars, that are stupid wars – but at the same time demands that we cut veterans' benefits and retirement benefits at home," he declared.

"Our soldiers will no longer live on the streets of your cities," the former president insisted. "We have cities where our great soldiers are living on concrete. They’re living on asphalt. We will take care of our soldiers."

Trump also took a shot at establishment figures, complaining that the Republican Party used to "ruled by freaks, neocons, globalists, open-border zealots, and fools" before adding that "we are never going back to the party of Paul Ryan, Karl Rove, and Jeb Bush."

Trump is widely seen as being the Republican Party's 2024 front runner, with an Emerson survey conducted last month giving him a 30 point lead over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Poll: Trump beats Biden by four points

However, DeSantis has thus far given no indication that he plans to throw his hat in the ring and has consistently refused to address any potential White House ambitions.

Meanwhile, the Emerson poll found that former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley and former Vice President Mike Pence both scored in the single digits.

Spencer Kimball serves as executive director of Emerson College Polling, and he explained that the survey's results break down sharply by education.

"Trump’s base consists of voters whose highest degree of education is high school or less, among whom 72% support, decreasing to 45% among those with a college degree, and 42% of those with a postgraduate degree, among which he trails DeSantis by two points," Kimball said.

The poll also showed Trump beating President Joe Biden by four points while Biden was ahead of DeSantis by the same margin.

Trump vows to bring "retribution"

In addition to addressing foreign policy and care for veterans, Trump also promised to fight on behalf of those "who have been wronged and betrayed.

"In 2016, I declared, 'I am your voice.' Today I add: I am your warrior, I am your justice, and for those who have been wronged and betrayed, I am your retribution!" the former president announced.

" A free people [claim] their rights, as derived from the laws of nature."
