Trump says Harvard is ready to make a deal with his administration
President Donald Trump is now saying that Harvard University is close to making a deal with his administration.
The New York Post reports that Trump made the claim on Friday.
This comes after Trump cut off a significant portion of federal funding for the school.
Many people have been asking what is going on with Harvard University and their largescale improprieties that we have been addressing, looking for a solution. We have been working closely with Harvard, and it is very possible that a Deal will be announced over the next week or…

Background
Trump and his administration have targeted Harvard and other colleges and universities in recent months.
The Hill reports:
In the past few months, the Trump administration has launched numerous federal investigations against Harvard. It has also sought to revoke the school’s tax-exempt status, paused billions of dollars in funding, and attempted to take away the university’s ability to enroll foreign students.
There are multiple reasons for this, according to The Post. They include the university's "refusal to share lists of international students or make policy changes in response to allegedly antisemitic protests."
Trump has spoken publicly about this situation many times in recent weeks. Each time, he has emphasized that, unlike other schools, Harvard has refused to cooperate with his administration.
Some of these actions mentioned above are being challenged by Harvard in the courts. But, in the meantime, it appears that Trump and Harvard have been talking behind the scenes.
The latest
The president provided an update on the situation via social media on Friday.
He wrote:

At the time of this writing, nobody really has any idea what such a deal might entail or look like. The president did not give any hints, other than that it could be "historic."
He wrote:
They have acted extremely appropriately during these negotiations, and appear to be committed to doing what is right. If a Settlement is made on the basis that is currently being discussed, it will be "mindbogglingly" HISTORIC, and very good for our Country.
"Thank you for your attention to this matter!" Trump concluded.
