Former President Donald Trump faces significant legal problems, including allegations that he falsified business records in New York State as well as federal charges relating to his handling of classified material.

Yet rather than cowering behind closed doors, Trump's wife and son didn't hesitate to step out in public earlier this week.

Trump: "The people love Melania"

According to the Daily Mail, former First Lady Melania Trump and her 17-year-old son Barron were seen exiting Trump Tower in New York City on Wednesday.

The paper noted that while both Mrs. Trump and her son were seen with luggage, it was not clear where the pair were traveling to.

It also recalled how the former president praised his wife during a recent interview with Fox News host Bret Baier, saying, "The people love Melania."

"She's a very confident person," he continued, adding, "She feels I'm being very badly mistreated. And she says, 'You go ahead and you do whatever you want to do because I'm with you 100%.'"

Former President says his wife is a "very confident person"

This was far from being the first time that Trump has spoken of his wife in glowing terms, as he also did so when asked in an interview with former advisor Roger Stone about how she was weathering the situation.

"A lot of people texted me about this and emailed me in preparation for the show," Breitbart quoted Stone as telling the former president.

"People want to know how she’s doing, how she feels about your 2024 campaign to regain the White House, and how she’s holding up during these outrageous, unfair politically motivated attacks on you," he added.

Trump responded by hailing the former first lady as "a terrific person" and "a very beautiful person" while recalling how she enjoyed a "very successful" career as a fashion model which made her a "very confident person."

"In a very low-key way, she doesn’t care that much. She’s got an attitude that’s amazing," the former president said of his wife. "She’s got a tremendous heart but she takes things for what they are and she’s just a very confident person."

Former First Lady says husband "has my support"

"She doesn’t need things like some people, they’re always pushing themselves out there – she’s the opposite. How does she take it? She’s hurt when the family’s hurt," he stressed.

For her part, Mrs. Trump recently told Fox News that her "husband achieved tremendous success in his first administration, and he can lead us toward greatness and prosperity once again."

"He has my support, and we look forward to restoring hope for the future and leading America with love and strength," she continued.

" A free people [claim] their rights, as derived from the laws of nature."
