Trump Shooter was possibly battling undiagnosed mental illness
Once the man who shot Donald Trump in the ear before being killed by the Secret Service was revealed to be Thomas Crooks, America instantly wanted to know everything they could about the person who shot our president.
Investigators have been relatively slow to make progress in their search for Crooks' motive, but more and more information about the young man is slowly being published.
Fox News is indicating that "Thomas Matthew Crooks may have been struggling with an undiagnosed mental health disorder — including some form of depression."
Internet searches
While Thomas Matthew Crooks' phone reportedly didn't contain any clues about WHY he wanted to shoot Donald Trump, the contents might provide a little insight into what Crooks was dealing with personally.
There isn't any confirmation that Crooks ever sought professional help, but investigators have realized that contained in his internet history were searches for major depressive disorder.
It's not hard to imagine that Thomas Crooks may have been dealing with a serious mental health issue. Most normal people never even dream of killing America's president, much less try to carry out the act.
Former classmates have described Crooks as a bit of a loner or outcast. The young man reportedly may have had to deal with a lot of isolation and rejection throughout his life.
Sources say that Thomas Crooks had "obsessive-compulsive tendencies and a knack for the mechanical or technical, including guns."
Thomas Crooks' online life
For somebody who's grown up in the age of the internet, Thomas Crooks had relatively little social footprint on the internet. In fact, the New York Post describes him as having "virtually no online presence."
Because Crooks didn't leave a lot of clues on the internet for everyone to see, investigators are scouring the offline contents of his devices to see if they can come up with any clues.
So far, the search has not been fruitful when it comes to any particular motive. The searches for depression might be about as close as they've come to some sort of "motive."
Crooks also had some searches for school shooter Ethan Crumbley and other mass shooters, as well as searches for XXX material.
It's hard to say that depression or searching for porn qualifies as a motive though, as there are million of depressed people in America who very rarely try to kill our president.
We pray for the recovery of Trump and the other victims, and we pray that authorities are allowed to learn more about Thomas Crooks. This whole situation was a tragedy that never should have happened. Maybe we'll be a little bit closer to preventing it from happening the next time after this investigation.
