Trump slams group of 4 GOP senators who want to vote against tariffs on Canada
President Donald Trump followed through on his promise to unleash a "Liberation Day" of slapping tariffs on multiple countries, and after making it happen, he triggered not only Democrats, but several within his own party.
According to the Daily Mail, a group of Senate Republicans decided to voice their opposition to Trump's tariff strategy and their efforts immediately drew Trump's response.
The four senators, Kentucky Sens. Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul, as well as Maine Sen. Susan Collins and Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski, are teaming up with Democrats to quash Trump's tariffs on Canada.
Trump slammed the group of GOP senators in his response.
What did he say?
The president held nothing back in excoriating the four senators, asking rhetorically in a Truth Social post, "What's wrong with them?"
"Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, and Rand Paul, also of Kentucky, will hopefully get on the Republican bandwagon, for a change," Trump wrote.
"The Senate Bill is just a ploy of the Dems to show and expose the weakness of certain Republicans, namely these four," Trump added. "[I]t is not going anywhere because the House will never approve it and I, as your President, will never sign it."
The president expressed doubt that the GOP senators would get very far with such a bill, claiming it would likely die in the GOP-led House.
"The Senate Bill is just a ploy of the Dems to show and expose the weakness of certain Republicans, namely these four, in that it is not going anywhere because the House will never approve," Trump wrote.
Before Trump signed his tariffs, he urged his followers in the states where the Republican detractors are from to call them and express their concern about going against Trump on the deal.

"I'm surprised by Rand Paul. He's a discredit to his father. What a shame," one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, "Is it always the same four or am I mistaken?"
Only time will tell if Trump finds a way to change their minds.
