Trump doubles down, says Soros 'should be in jail' for alleged RICO violations
President Donald Trump recently called for a criminal investigation of progressive billionaire George Soros and any links there may be between his Open Society Foundation and the funding of various radical leftist groups, whose organized protests sometimes devolve into destructive and violent rioting.
In a recent interview, Trump confirmed his belief that Soros, as well as his son and heir Alex, is a "bad guy" who "should be put in jail," according to the Washington Examiner.
The president has previously expressed his suspicions that Soros and his umbrella funding operation may have violated the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations statutes, or RICO laws, which are typically applied to organized crime groups like the mafia, street gangs, and drug cartels.
Investigating Soros for RICO law violations
It was just over two weeks ago that President Trump, in a Truth Social post, declared, "George Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of Violent Protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America."
"We’re not going to allow these lunatics to rip apart America any more, never giving it so much as a chance to 'BREATHE,' and be FREE," he added. "Soros, and his group of psychopaths, have caused great damage to our Country! That includes his Crazy, West Coast friends. Be careful, we’re watching you!"
On Friday, according to the Examiner, Trump reiterated that message during an appearance on "Fox & Friends," during which he confirmed that his administration was "going to look into Soros" for suspected violations of RICO laws.
"Protesters get paid for their profession from Soros and other people," he explained. "And we’re going to look into Soros, because I think it’s a RICO case against him and other people. Because this is more than, like, protests. This is real agitation."
Soros "should be in jail"
In an interview on Saturday with NBC News, President Trump expressed his desire to see national healing after the horrific assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk during a college campus event in Utah, but observed that "we’re dealing with a radical left group of lunatics, and they don’t play fair and they never did."
Asked for his reaction to Republican Utah Gov. Spencer Cox's plea for more tolerance and less blame shifting between partisan opponents, the president said, "We’ll see what happens. They [the left] don’t like what’s been happening. We’ve been winning very big."
As for his comments the day before about investigating George Soros for possible RICO law violations, Trump asserted that the progressive billionaire philanthropist, who has long been accused of funding subversive radical leftist groups, "should be in jail," and added, "He’s a bad guy."
Police investigating shooter's transgender roommate, leftist groups in Utah
Meanwhile, Axios reported that authorities investigating the Kirk assassination have confirmed that the suspected shooter, Tyler Robinson, was romantically involved with a transgender roommate, which may have motivated him to murder the outspoken Christian activist over his opposition to the transgender lifestyle.
The roommate was said to have been "aghast" at what Robinson allegedly did, and has been fully cooperating with law enforcement, including by sharing revealing text messages with investigators.
At the same time, the outlet noted that state and federal law enforcement agencies are "examining leftist groups in Utah" to see if any of them had any knowledge of the assassination beforehand or if they provided any material support to the murderous effort -- and, likely, who those groups were receiving funding from.
Rather suspiciously, one of those leftist groups in Utah immediately eliminated its social media presence right after the fatal shooting occurred, according to Axios.
