Trump praises 'very smart' son Barron, suggests he has an 'unbelievable aptitude' for 'technology'
For the past decade, the nation and the world have watched President Donald Trump's youngest son, Barron, grow from a small child to a tall young man in college, and speculation has been widespread that he is preparing to follow his father's footsteps into the business world and political realm.
The president, however, believes his youngest son is "very smart" and may be best suited for a career in technology, for which he has an "unbelievable aptitude," according to Fox News.
That assessment came in response to a question about Barron's potential future as the Trump family celebrated the college student's 19th birthday this week.
Trump loves all of his children
President Trump sat this week for a wide-ranging interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, who at one point noted Barron's birthday this week and asked how often the father and son communicated and what sort of future career he envisioned the young man pursuing.
Trump replied that he talks to Barron "all of the time," but then shifted the conversation to give praise to all five of his "very smart" children who were all "good students" who attended "good schools" and "work hard," and claimed that he was "lucky" to have such successful offspring.
Trump thinks Barron has a future in technology
Ingraham returned the discussion to Barron and asked the president if his youngest son had displayed an "aptitude" for any particular subject, including "business or politics."
"Maybe technology," Trump said as he proceeded to provide an example of how Barron "can look at a computer" and make it work.
"I try turning off his -- I turn off his laptop, I say 'Oh, good,'" he explained. "I go back, five minutes later, he's got his laptop. I said, 'How did you do that?' 'None of your business, Dad.'"
"No, he's got an unbelievable aptitude in technology," Trump added of his son.
Barron helped get his father elected
Barron Trump's "aptitude" for technology should come as no surprise, given that he already displayed during the 2024 campaign how he is attuned to how the younger generations make use of technology for entertainment and informational purposes.
According to The Hill, Barron has been widely credited for his role in convincing his father to sit for several high-profile interviews with various podcasters and streamers who are exceedingly popular and influential among young men and women, which arguably played a significant role in Trump's successful re-election in November.
"He is a grown young man. I’m very proud of him about his knowledge, even about politics and giving an advice to his father -- he brought in so many young people," first lady Melania Trump said of her son in a December interview. "He knows his generation, because nowadays the young generation, they don’t sit in front of TV anymore. They’re all on the tablets, they’re on the phones, and all of these podcasts and streamers."
"He was very vocal, and he gave an advice to his father, and was incredible how he brought in a success because he knew exactly who his father needs to contact and to talk to," the proud mother added of her beloved son.
