Trump posts videos comparing cheers for him and boos for Taylor Swift at Super Bowl
Numerous celebrities were in attendance at Sunday's Super Bowl in New Orleans, but two in particular -- President Donald Trump and pop superstar Taylor Swift -- elicited sharply different reactions from the crowd when their presence was revealed.
Trump highlighted that disparity while the NFL's championship game was still ongoing with a social media post that featured two video clips, including one of the crowd cheering for him and another of the crowd booing Swift, Breitbart reported.
The clips of the distinctly audible cheers and boos of the crowd came when the president and the pop singer were shown separately on the stadium's massive jumbotron screen at different points during the major annual event.
Cheers and jeers
No caption was necessary for President Trump's Sunday evening post on Truth Social that contrasted the Super Bowl crowd's reception of him to that of Taylor Swift.
In the first clip, the crowd could be heard loudly cheering and applauding when Trump and his eldest daughter Ivanka were shown on the big screen around the same time that the National Anthem was performed and a huge American flag covered much of the field.
In the second clip, however, raucous boos and jeers were heard from the crowd when Swift, who appeared visibly shocked and befuddled by the response, was shown on the Superdome's oversized screen later in the game.
Trump mocked Swift for having a "tougher night" than the Chiefs
According to Fox News, that comparative post was not the only thing that the Social Media Troller-in-Chief had to say about the crowd's negative reaction to seeing Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl, in which her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and his team suffered an embarrassing defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles.
In a Truth Social post made after the lopsided 40-22 game had concluded, in which the final score made the game appear closer than it was, Trump joked, "The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!"
The president's mockery of the superstar singer was not particularly surprising, though, as he had previously expressed an intense dislike for her during the 2024 campaign after she had endorsed his opponent, former Vice President Kamala Harris, and had spoken out against him.
At that time, Trump issued a viral post in all caps that declared unequivocally, "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!" Given her media-fueled ubiquity at so many Chiefs games over the past two seasons, it would appear that many NFL fans also now feel the same way.
Trump praised stars from both teams but sided with Chiefs
Prior to the Super Bowl's kickoff, President Trump had incorrectly predicted that the Chiefs would prevail over the Eagles, but just two days earlier had praised the coaches and star players for both teams, including Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, along with Eagles running back Saquon Barkley and Chiefs tight end Kelce.
"Two great Quarterbacks in this game. Also, an unbelievable running back, and the absolute best tight end in football (Ever!). Incredible coaching!" he posted before lamenting a controversial rule change for the league at the start of the season. "If they would only get rid of that really weird looking new Kickoff 'deal,' which actually makes football more dangerous, they would be doing everybody, especially the fans, a big favor."
And just a couple of days before that, Trump praised and congratulated Mahomes and his wife, Brittany -- who openly supported him during the election -- on their newest child and wrote in a post, "Congratulations to the Chiefs GREAT Quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, and his very beautiful and BRILLIANT wife, Brittany, on the birth of their new baby daughter, Golden Raye. This is what I call a baby with great genes, both mother and father. It’s happy times in the wonderful Mahomes family. See you all on Sunday!"
