Trump vows to bring Columbus Day 'back from the ashes'

President Donald Trump made a number of promises during his 2024 campaign with one of them being that he would bring Columbus Day back to how it was celebrated before woke Democrats tried to cancel it.

According to Breitbart, over the weekend, Trump announced that he is "bringing Columbus Day back from the ashes” after “the Democrats did everything possible to destroy" the 15th century Italian explorer.

Trump emphasized in his Truth Social post that the Democrats did "everything" they could to destroy the holiday and pretend like it doesn't exist, despite the fact that millions of Americans, especially those with Italian heritage, love to celebrate it.

The Democrats' attempts to completely cancel the holiday is part of the new generation of "woke" progressives in the party who have major influencers over voters, especially younger demographics.

What did he say?

In true Trump fashion, the president held nothing back in his post vowing to revive the traditional holiday to celebrate Christopher Columbus' discovery of America.

"I’m bringing Columbus Day back from the ashes. The Democrats did everything possible to destroy Christopher Columbus, his reputation, and all of the Italians that love him so much. They tore down his Statues, and put up nothing but “WOKE,” or even worse, nothing at all!," the president wrote.

Trump added, "Well, you’ll be happy to know, Christopher is going to make a major comeback. I am hereby reinstating Columbus Day under the same rules, dates, and locations, as it has had for all of the many decades before!"

Breitbart noted:

Trump’s Columbus Day declaration arrives on the heels of the president and first lady Melania Trump flying to Rome, Italy, where they attended Pope Francis’s funeral alongside an array of other world leaders paying their respects to the departed pope on Saturday.

While Columbus Day was celebrated for decades in America, it was all but canceled when woke mobs of progressive crybabies claimed that it offended Native Americans.

They made a successful push to rename the holiday “Indigenous Peoples’ Day," and angered millions of Americans in the process.
