Trump vows to take New York fraud case to the Supreme Court

Former President Donald Trump says that, if necessary, he will take the case that New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) has brought against him all the way up to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Trump said as much in a recent interview with Fox News.

This is the same case in which Trump has been hit with a $454 million civil fraud judgment by leftist New York Judge Arthur Engoron. Engoron imposed the penalty after claiming that Trump illegally overvalued his assets on financial loan documents.

Trump is appealing the decision, but, in the meantime, he has been ordered to pay the penalty. The former president must do so by March 25.

"All the way up to the U.S. Supreme Court"

In his interview with Fox, Trump made it clear that he is willing to fight James up and down the U.S. court system, insisting that he will take the case "all the way up to the U.S. Supreme Court, if necessary."

Trump also took issue with the courts trying to force him to pay the $454 million before he has a chance to appeal the ruling. "They can’t take away your property before you’ve had a chance to appeal," Trump said.

Elsewhere during the interview, Trump revealed that he does have the means to pay the judgment. The former president, however, suggested that he will not do so.

"That doesn’t mean I’m going to give money to a rogue and incompetent judge — the puppet of a corrupt attorney general who’s failing with violent crime and migrant crime and whose only purpose in life is attempting to get Trump," he said.

Trump went on to allege that Engoron "openly and hostilely disrespects the decision of the appellate division, which ruled in my favor." He added, "Hopefully they will set the record straight — he has already been overturned four times on this case, a record."

"GROSSLY INCOMPETENT AND CORRUPT"

Trump's interview with Fox took place before the weekend.

The former president continued to rail against James and Engoron throughout the weekend, up until the Monday deadline.

"Leticia James has a TERRIBLE RECORD ON VIOLENT CRIME AS NEW YORK STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL. BUT AT LEAST SHE GOES AFTER TRUMP FOR DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG!" Trump wrote on Sunday.

Then, he targeted Engoron, writing, "The Judge in the A.G. case FRAUDULENTLY UNDERVALUED MAR-A-LAGO AT $18,000,000 IN ORDER TO CREATE HIS FAKE NARRATIVE. HE IS GROSSSLY INCOMPETENT AND CORRUPT! I SHOULD HAVE ZERO FINE."

At the time of this writing, it is not exactly clear what Trump plans to do regarding the $454 million judgment.
